When that raised the crowd's hackles and shouts of "Just pay a decent wage" came from the audience, McCain went on a little tantrum in which he dug the hole deeper and deeper. He told a bunch of beefy construction workers that they are too fat and lazy to pick lettuce even for $50 per hour. Not just that they won't, but that they can't.
